Omar Shoukri is a film director, music producer, and educator whose work bridges diverse cultural narratives, social structures, and linguistic expressions.
Born and raised in Germany with Egyptian roots, Omar's artistic journey is deeply shaped by the interplay of chaos and order. This initial experience of contrasting cultures became the 'matrix' of his art, leading him to explore 'impossible unions' and 'unlikely composites' in narratives across different cultures, social hierarchies, and languages.
Since 1994, Omar's captivating audio and visual creations have garnered international recognition, with exhibitions and performances at prestigious venues including the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, NYUAD Institute, Imagine Science Film Festival Abu Dhabi, and the Goethe Institute Barcelona. His journey has spanned global media hubs, including roles at Broadcast TV Networks and production companies in Berlin (SAT.1 TV), London (CNN, BBC Arabic), Los Angeles (Admusic), New York (McKinsey & Co.), and Dubai (MBC).
Academically, Omar's expertise extends to designing and teaching undergraduate courses in media production, including pioneering a unique music performance course at Middlesex University. His corporate consulting experience includes collaborations with the BBC Academy on media training initiatives across the MENA region, and significant contributions within the dynamic environment of New York University Abu Dhabi.
